Wow, it took a long time to birth this book. Three attempts as a fictional novel failed in 1985, 1991, and 2004. With the approach of the 50th anniversary of Title IX in 2022, I realized it was time to tell my story.
Go-to Girl: Digs, Dives and a Golden Spike is my memoir about being one of the first recruited female athletes to earn a volleyball scholarship at Stanford. My goals were high: to become an Olympic volleyball player and a doctor who could cure my Mama Jo’s mysterious illness. My heroine’s journey parallels the rise of Stanford volleyball from a lowly AIAW program to an NCAA National Championship contender.
